New campaign idea for The Argus

I met with Lottie Elson today, Marketing Manager for the Argus to present potential new campaign concept for Brighton’s local newspaper. My campaign concept was well received by the Marketing Manager and the Editor, and the Argus is currently looking into ways of getting it off the ground. I’m really pleased.
My campaign idea is simple – How to deal with redundancy and unemployment in a positive and constructive way.
There’s no denying that we are going through a difficult time at the moment. Every time we open a newspaper or watch the news, we are bombarded with doom and gloom stories telling us that there are no jobs to be had, and that unemployment levels are rising. In my opinion this is not constructive. I am currently looking for my next job after having been made redundant from my position as Marketing Services Manager with Island Cruises, so I know the effect these doom and gloom stories can have on your ability to stay positive, optimistic – and efficient in your job hunt.
This is why I have offered to work with the Argus on a campaign that balances out the effects doom and gloom stories with examples of success stories and inspiration on how to make the most of what can only be described as a very difficult time. The campaign is not meant to be a ‘smile and everything will be OK’ solution to the problem – but it will hopefully help people stay positive and motivated and inspired to think outside the box.
